| Flood Relief Programme |
Flood
is not common in Rajasthan. But the heavy downpour during
the month of August 2006 razed invaluable property including
crops and as well as livestock of the tribal communities.
Around 488 villages were affected in Jhadol and Kotra
blocks.
The
Short-term Emergency Services include
a) Distribution of food commodity kits:
Around 435 kits containing wheat flour, rice,
pulses, oil, turmeric power and salt had been
distributed in 30 villages. This apart, 139 families
had received seeds for sowing of next crop.
b) Animal treatment camps:
Around 10 such camps were conducted in 10 flood
affected villages in which 3802 cattle treated
from around 294 tribal families.
c) Medical camps:
GMKS conducted 13 medical camps in 12 flood-affected
villages as various diseases spread after the
flood. Around 2417 patients had received benefits
from these camps.
Long-term Rehabilitation
Services include
a) Construction of Houses:
As most of the tribal communities live in mud
houses, which were washed away by torrential rain.
As many as 62 houses completely damaged by rain
in 14 villages of the blocks. GMKS selected 34
most needy and poor families from these villages
and their houses had been reconstructed.
b) Repairing of Water Harvesting Structure:
2 WHS and 4 wells had been repaired in 2 flood-affected
villages.
